Chavez Lab

Mammal Evolution

About us

Welcome to the Chavez Lab in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at The Ohio State University! We are interested in understanding the evolutionary patterns and processes of mammalian diversification. We are an integrative lab and use expertise in evolutionary biology, evolutionary genomics, morphological evolution, and ecology to study topics such as demographic inference, phylogeography, genetic architecture of both ecologically important traits and reproductive isolation, morphological evolution, and behavioral ecology. We also have experience in applied research and have worked on conservation issues of endangered species and wildlife management.

The Chavez Lab values inclusion and diversity in STEM and we welcome and support people from diverse backgrounds and identities, including race, nationality, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or socio-economic status.
